Personal

Welcome, and thank you for considering counseling. Reaching out for support can take courage, and I want you to know from the beginning that you will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you can be heard, understood, and accepted for who you are. I believe that asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of strength and a willingness to invest in yourself and your future.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I believe counseling is a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, help you better understand yourself and your circumstances, and provide tools and support to help you move forward.

My approach to counseling is influenced by both my professional training and my personal life experiences. I am a military veteran with two overseas tours of duty and a retired law enforcement officer. I am also a husband, father, and brother.

These experiences have given me an appreciation for the sacrifices, responsibilities, stress, and challenges that can come with serving others and caring for the people we love. They have also taught me the importance of resilience, connection, communication, and recognizing that even strong people sometimes need support.

I work with individuals ages 15 and up. I have a particular interest in working with military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their families, as well as adolescents experiencing mental health concerns and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other challenges.

Professional Disclosure Statement

My counseling approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy.

You can expect me to:

  • Listen to you without judgment.
  • Treat you with dignity, compassion, and respect.
  • Take your concerns seriously.
  • Encourage you to participate in decisions regarding your counseling.
  • Help you identify strengths and build upon them.
  • Provide honest and constructive feedback when appropriate.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Respect your individuality, values, experiences, and personal goals.
  • Work with you to develop practical strategies for navigating life’s challenges.
  • Encourage hope and the belief that positive change is possible.

I will not pretend to have all the answers, and I will not tell you how you should live your life. Instead, I will work with you to explore where you are, where you would like to be, and what steps may help you get there.

Counseling is not about changing who you are. It is about creating an opportunity to understand yourself more clearly, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, develop new skills, and make choices that are consistent with the life you want.

Progress may not always happen quickly, and there may be difficult days along the way. That does not mean you have failed. Growth is often a process of taking one step, learning from it, and taking the next. My hope is that counseling becomes a place where you can take a breath, put down some of the weight you have been carrying, and begin looking toward what comes next.

I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
