Vallarie was born and raised in Dallas. Growing up she spent the majority of her time in theater and attended Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet High School, where she learned a lot about therapeutic exercises from her teachers and mentors. While attending SMU, she tragically lost her brother, and through her own grief counseling, she learned how beneficial the counseling process can be and developed a desire to help others. While working with teens at Conrad HS, they encouraged her to get her license as a professional counselor. When she is not seeing clients at Logos Counseling, she is spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband Matthew have been married for 15 years and have three sons. Her stepson, Josiah is an active working young adult, with whom she helped raise since he was 11. Evan is a happy 11 year old enjoying his last year in elementary school. Jacob is an energetic 8 year old. Both she and her husband enjoy time with family playing cards, board games, movie nights and eating pizza.
My counseling theorist is Carl Rogers. I tend to focus on evidenced based practices, like client-centered therapy where we may talk about goals, relationships, family and experiences. The goal of this style is to help my clients move toward growth and healing. At the same time, they will have the capacity to find answers while accepting and understanding themselves through self-awareness. Throughout my career, I have also used humanistic and holistic approaches, such as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Adlerian, Existential, Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to better serve clients. You will see that my diverse background encompasses strategic skills with a passion for helping others, which will prove an asset to the client’s overall success.
I specialize in working with individuals, couples and families, including various age groups and diverse backgrounds, children, teens, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress management, sexual orientation/identity, anger management, mindfulness, trauma, ptsd, stress management, addiction, and grief and loss. It is my duty diagnosing and creating the right treatment plans based on the clients needs, strengths, abilities, and preferences. By creating a tailored approach for each client, clients can utilize that platform to talk about their own struggles and issues. The purpose of my role is to empower client’s to problem solve independently. Oh and did I mention, I speak English and Spanish!
All of our therapists are trained and equipped to help you through issues related to anxiety, depression, and stress using a variety of techniques and tools designed specifically for you.
This is a therapeutic technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (trauma).
We are happy to offer testing and therapeutic services using a variety of holistic approaches. These approaches can be used as either supplemental services to traditional therapy or sometimes in place of them.
Both Play Therapy and Art Therapy can be used to help clients interpret, express, and resolve their emotions and thoughts. Although Play Therapy is often used for children, Art Therapy can be used with a wide age range.
