Zaira was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when she was only six years old, and she is still fluent in Spanish. From an early age Zaira knew that she wanted to make a difference in the life of others. When she began her studies at Texas A&M University she quickly fell in love with psychology and the ability to learn about others through engaging with them. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Zaira studied Counseling and Development and has obtained her provisional counselor license. Throughout her career Zaira has loved having the ability to provide a safe environment for clients to explore and process through difficult emotions, situations, and traumas. Zaira’s main goal in the counseling room is for clients to finish feeling relief, confidence, and growth within themselves. Zaira has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults and she utilizes a client centered approach that allows her to meet her client’s where they are. This client centered approach also allows her clients the opportunity to take charge in their sessions and focus their growth where they need it to go.
When she is not working and seeing clients, Zaira likes to spend her time with her boyfriend, family, friends, and her dog Zeus. Zaira’s self-care is centered around reading, watching feel-good tv shows, and going on walks with her dog.
Zaira is excited to begin working with you and helping you achieve your goals!
I work with a wide population including, but not limited to, adolescents, young adults, families, and individuals. Through short-term crisis work I have had the opportunity to work with families in crisis including suicidal ideation, self-harm, domestic violence, abuse (including physical, emotional, and sexual), grief, and more.
I believe the first step to healing is a healthy relationship. I understand how difficult it can be to seek help in the first place and therefore, I take pride in providing a safe, non-judgmental, warm, and compassionate space for my clients to be able to explore and process difficulties they are facing. I utilize a client centered approach that allows me to meet my client where they are. This client centered approach means that you are an expert in yourself, and I am someone who can help you navigate and explore difficult thoughts, emotions, decisions, and situations.
All of our therapists are trained and equipped to help you through issues related to anxiety, depression, and stress using a variety of techniques and tools designed specifically for you.
This is a therapeutic technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (trauma).
We are happy to offer testing and therapeutic services using a variety of holistic approaches. These approaches can be used as either supplemental services to traditional therapy or sometimes in place of them.
Both Play Therapy and Art Therapy can be used to help clients interpret, express, and resolve their emotions and thoughts. Although Play Therapy is often used for children, Art Therapy can be used with a wide age range.
