Personal

My background is in education where I spent 13 years as a public-school teacher and counselor. Through being an educator, I discovered the need to reach students and families on a deeper level. I saw the first-hand struggles of individuals who experienced trauma, hardships, or trouble adjusting and did not have the means to express themselves or cope in positive ways. I also worked with adults daily who did not feel validated at work or in relationships and struggled to communicate their needs and wants effectively as well as set and maintain healthy boundaries.

As a therapist, I have grown to understand our biggest tool is ourselves. I work with pre-teens, adolescents, adults, and couples through self-reflection, self-awareness, acceptance, and practical skills that can be implemented daily. Allow me to help you, your child, or relationship in your journey of healing and becoming the version of yourself that you desire to be.

I am a wife to a loving husband of 10+ years and parent to a growing girl and boy where every day is fun yet unpredictable. I’m also a daughter, sister, and a friend. I enjoy spending time with my family, but I have grown to better appreciate the time spent with myself. I enjoy reading, exercising, and spending time outdoors. I know the multiple roles we often take on for others and how difficult it can be to prioritize ourselves and our own mental health without the guilt that usually accompanies.

Professional Disclosure Statement (PDS)

My belief is life happens to all of us, but it affects us individually in different ways. Anxiety, stress, grief, anger, relationships, and transitions can all challenge how we show up on a daily basis, how we experience the world, and how others experience us.

As a therapist, I have grown to understand our biggest tool is ourselves. I work with children, adults, individuals, and a variety of relationships through self-reflection, self-awareness, acceptance, and practical skills that can be implemented daily. I would describe my primary therapeutic approach as Person-Centered which fosters the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. Together we create goals and work towards them. I also implement psychoeducation as a means to help the client understand their unique functioning, mindfulness practices as a way to help clients connect with the present, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to identify patterns and work towards change.

Through my work as a school counselor, I have worked with individuals, groups and families through adjustment disorders, grief processing, trauma recovery, and more. I received my full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas in 2021. I currently work with a wide population including, but not limited to, preteens (9 years old and up), adolescents, young adults, families, couples, parents, and individuals.
