Personal

Being a mental health professional has been a lifelong passion. I enjoy the therapeutic process and watching my clients sense of empowerment unfold so that they can achieve their desired goals. My non-directive approach allows me to meet my clients where they are and grow in the directions they want to grow with the gentle guidance that the therapeutic relationship provides. I have experience working with adults and adolescents, couples therapy as well as anger management, grief and loss, and abuse survivors. I am a strong proponent of self-regulation; therefore, I offer neurofeedback as a therapeutic approach. I often pull from my other passion of yoga and teach breathing and meditation to calm the agitated brain.

When I am not working I enjoy hiking with my dog and yoga. I am always reading something because, well, I embrace my nerdy side. I believe in having a sense of humor about life and laugh at my own foibles and I will encourage you to do the same. Together…We will laugh.

Professional Disclosure Statement

I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Texas. I am also an Approved LPC Supervisor with the State of Texas.  I work with a wide population including, but not limited to, adolescents, young adults, couples, and individuals.  I have worked as a Counselor since 2001.  In 2003, I received my full licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas.  I have worked in hospital and private practice settings as a counselor.

I believe the therapeutic process is less about technique and more about relationship.  When there is a healthy and appropriate therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client there is a great motivation for change.  Although I do believe the relationship is the most important factor in client change, I do utilize an approach that is a fusion of Cognitive Behavioral and mindfulness based.  I am interested in the narrative you are telling yourself and exploring ways to re-tell the story in a way that better benefits you; as well as learning to calm yourself and gain better focus.
