Professional Disclosure Statement

I work with a wide population including, but not limited to, children (4 years old and up), parents, families, adolescents, and adults of all ages.  I have worked as an Elementary School Teacher from 1999 to 2018.  During that time, I worked with many children, parents, teachers and administrators to help young students enjoy learning, develop and maintain positive relationships with others, and learn skills that help them problem solve and self-regulate when they come up against many situations life presents. In 2017, I received my licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas.

Life presents many challenging events so when someone is ready to make the changes required to face them, I believe, as a therapist, I am to be their encourager and their guide. There are many strategies and techniques available to help people on their therapeutic journey.  The techniques I use most often are Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy with Narrative Therapy.  Play Therapy involves techniques used mostly with young children and uses play to communicate and work through the therapeutic process.  Cognitive Behavior Therapy focuses on developing personal coping strategies by looking into a person’s thoughts, beliefs and attitudes.  Solution Focused Brief Therapy uses a very goal-oriented approach, using very specific questions to develop an effective solution and focuses more on the here and now.  Narrative Therapy incorporates writing to “re-story” the desired future without the presenting problem.
