Gary has been counseling since 2009 when he answered a call to change careers and go where the Lord was leading him. His previous career was as a mechanical engineer in Toledo, Ohio where he and his wife raised their two daughters. Gary has worked in Toledo, Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with adults covering a wide array of issues from Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and Personality Disorders. His compassionate manner and giving nature will assist you in achieving a trusting relationship whereby you can achieve your goals.
He and his wife moved to Dallas at the beginning of 2014 to enjoy a warmer climate and the Texas hospitality. Gary and his wife have been long time members of the United Methodist Church and are involved with various volunteer groups and ministries. Combining his gifts in counseling and passion for sharing his Christian beliefs for all persons of all faiths has allowed him to give back to the community through prison ministries. He respects persons of all faiths and meets them where they are. Gary enjoys fishing, playing guitar, music, arts, sports and automobiles of all kinds.
Gary is trained in Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Therapy (REBT), Couple counseling and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
My years of counseling experience, I utilize an integrated approach to counseling; focusing on narrative and cognitive-behavioral therapy. The integrative approach to counseling uses behavioral techniques in helping clients improve communication and work through problems. Another component to integrative therapy is teaching clients to accept things that cannot be changed and learning the skills to change the things they can change for a healthy life and wellness.
All of our therapists are trained and equipped to help you through issues related to anxiety, depression, and stress using a variety of techniques and tools designed specifically for you.
This is a therapeutic technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (trauma).
We are happy to offer testing and therapeutic services using a variety of holistic approaches. These approaches can be used as either supplemental services to traditional therapy or sometimes in place of them.
Both Play Therapy and Art Therapy can be used to help clients interpret, express, and resolve their emotions and thoughts. Although Play Therapy is often used for children, Art Therapy can be used with a wide age range.
