Personal

Debbie has been married to Greg Newhouse for nearly 30 years and is proud to be a mom to five adult children who became hers via birth, as bonus children, and through adoption. Her blended family also includes three who joined her brood via marriage. She is so enjoying her life as ‘Mimzy’ to five precious grandbabies. In her first marriage, she enjoyed life in ministry as a Pastor/Staff wife in the Burleson/Crowley and she maintains a strong church connection. Currently, she and Greg serve as PreMarriage leaders at Rush Creek Church and annually teach marriage principles to upwards of 50 couples. It is their passion. They also are foodies who regularly scout out interesting establishments where they enjoy great eats and quality time together.

Professional Disclosure Statement

I am a big believer in working to create a strong therapeutic relationship, joining cooperatively with the client to form an alliance that can facilitate meaningful change. While I do approach counseling with a cognitive/behavioral perspective, I seek to incorporate various techniques and strategies to address each individual’s issues. Much distress can often be alleviated by simply recognizing the lies we often believe and learning to exchange them with the truth. I have a passion to work in partnership with people whose lives have been interrupted by out-of-control stress, anxiety or panic, codependency/relationship difficulties, or assertiveness issues. I feel a strong calling to work with couples exploring the next step towards engagement or marriage, with blended families and parenting challenges, and with those who may be struggling with sexual identity/orientation issues, relational and communication struggles, and issues related to disorganized thinking or cognitive clarity, as well as forgiveness issues or buried emotions. I collaborate with each client, confident in my training and experience as well as my reliance upon the Holy Spirit as the change agent for everyone. I confidently believe we are all designed by God for His purposes, and that He delights in us.

My professional associations include the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), as well as Christian Counselors of Texas (CCT). I feel I have an ability to relate to a large population of clients. I am happy to see teens and enjoy working with college-aged students and up, seeing individuals, parents, and couples (PreMarriage and Marriage).
