Personal

Hello! I’m Cheryl Stevenson Postlewate, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), under the supervision of Meredith Ivey. With 25 years of dedicated service as a school counselor, specializing in the elementary level, I bring a deep understanding of the unique challenges and developmental stages children face.

For over two decades, I’ve been privileged to guide and support individuals through various life transitions and struggles. I specialize in working with children ages 10 and up, as well as women’s issues, and transitional times for adults, such as being an empty nester or newly divorced, trauma, loss, and LBGTQ issues. My passion lies in assisting clients with decision-making, anxiety, depression, career guidance, and finding one’s passion to create fulfilling livelihoods.

Professional Disclosure Statement

My counseling approach integrates person-centered solution-focused counseling, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Additionally, I believe in the power of psychoeducation to empower clients with knowledge about wellness and mental health. I adhere to the growth mindset philosophy and incorporate a growth mindset outlook into each client’s life journey. Moreover, spirituality is an integral part of my counseling approach, providing clients with holistic support for their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

I believe in the inherent strength and resilience of every individual. I am passionate about helping clients discover their unique gifts and strengths and guiding them on their journey towards self-discovery and fulfillment. Together, we’ll explore your purpose, passions, and potential, and work towards creating meaningful and purposeful lives. Whether you’re navigating the challenges of adolescence, seeking support through life transitions, or striving to find clarity and purpose, I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Let’s embark on this journey of self-discovery and growth together.
