I spent 30 years in the Education field and now relish the opportunity to help empower people & make a difference in their lives through my second career in Counseling. I have one daughter who is 26 years old. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, movies, reading, eating out, stimulating conversations, & spending time with family & friends. I have a beautiful Sheltie named Chooey, whom I am crazy about!
Although Counseling is my second career, I have always had deep compassion for others. I taught 5th & 6th grade very successfully for 11 years in Amarillo before becoming an elementary and middle school principal, a position I held for 19 years before recently retiring & returning to school to obtain a Master’s degree in Counseling which has always been a life-long goal.
I especially enjoy working with pre-teens & adolescents & believe there is nothing more exciting than making a significant difference in a client’s life. I find great purpose & fulfillment in helping youth with self-esteem issues & helping empower clients to see their inherent worth as they realize they MATTER! I believe when you listen to kids, they will listen to you!
I specialize in working with pre teens & adolescents who have experienced grief & loss in their lives as well as clients with anxiety, anger, abuse in their backgrounds, depression, & self-esteem issues.
I am a Person-Centered Counselor who uses principles & strategies from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to help clients become more successful & live more productive lives, & I am also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which is more emotion focused. I am a very empathetic & collaborative counselor who recognizes that we all want to be truly seen for who we are & unconditionally accepted. It would be an honor to work with you and your family!
My Christian faith is extremely important to me, & I believe when you honor God, He honors you.
All of our therapists are trained and equipped to help you through issues related to anxiety, depression, and stress using a variety of techniques and tools designed specifically for you.
This is a therapeutic technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (trauma).
We are happy to offer testing and therapeutic services using a variety of holistic approaches. These approaches can be used as either supplemental services to traditional therapy or sometimes in place of them.
Both Play Therapy and Art Therapy can be used to help clients interpret, express, and resolve their emotions and thoughts. Although Play Therapy is often used for children, Art Therapy can be used with a wide age range.
We’d like to stay in touch through a simple newsletter.
