Personal

Bill was born in California. As part of a military family, they moved to Hawaii and then to San Antonio, Texas where he graduated from high school in 1964. He then enrolled in Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and graduated in 1969.

The day after commencement from Baylor, he was married to his wife, Sylvia. They adopted a son in 1977.  Following graduation from SWBTS, he was called to First Baptist Church of Arlington to be their Minister to Youth and College Students (1972-1979).

He enrolled in graduate study in psychology at East Texas State University, Commerce (now Texas A&M, Commerce) to complete a master’s degree in psychology (1986).  Beginning in 1983, he worked with Metro-Counseling Associates in Arlington as a psychological intern until he was licensed as a Psychological Associate (1987), Marriage and Family Therapist (1990) and Licensed Professional Counselor (1992).

Metro-Counseling was changed to Metro-McGee Associates to provide mental health services to individuals, families and in-patient hospital patients. As a result, Bill was involved in providing direct care to individuals and groups in many of the mental health hospitals in the DFW area. Responsibilities included individual and group counseling for depression, anxiety and other mental health issues, multi-family counseling and sexual abuse recovery groups for children and adolescents.

In 1994, he began providing psychological services in the Arlington Independent School District. He was licensed as a Specialist in School Psychology and served students and school staff 1994-2014 and 2016-2024, when he retired.  During these years in the school system, he also maintained a private practice with several different group practices (Center for Counseling and Enrichment and Soteria Counseling and Family Services in Arlington).  In 2024, he joined the staff of Logos Counseling Services in Arlington.

As a counselor and marriage and family therapist, I work with individuals and families to encourage clients to discuss their emotions and experiences to change behavior, thoughts and beliefs in order to develop strategies and skills to change behavior and cope with life situations.

Bill sees children, adolescents and families with ages from 8 and up.  In addition, he works with individuals and families dealing with issues and transitions related to dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Interventions are often based on Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Based approaches. Such help clients understand harmful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and teach how to replace these with positive, life enhancing ones.
