Apart from my professional work, I love spending time with family and friends. My husband and I attend Stonebriar Community Church and are actively involved in ministries to encourage community and growth. I enjoy reading books, admire nature and astronomy, and love to travel.
I am fluent in English and Tamil (my native language), and am comfortable providing counseling in both languages.
I am a licensed professional counselor with work experience in mental health hospitals and individual counseling organizations offering services to address individuals’ issues on traumatic grief, self-harm behaviors, depression, and addictive behaviors to various drugs and alcohol. I have experience in working with individuals with mood, anxiety, substance use, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and personality disorders. As a counselor, I support building the individual’s self-esteem and courage for the present and vision and hope for the future. With my previous career roles as an executive officer and a design engineer, I can attest to how careers also can play an immense part in the reconstruction of the personality of a person, boosting their self-esteem along with altruism, insight, and strong mental resolute.
I practice scientific and evidence-based interventions for trauma and other mental health issues using integrative approaches of Existential Theory, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). With my doctoral degree and emphasis in traumatology, I am able to serve clients better using scientific clinical interventions and competent treatment to achieve the best possible outcome for recovery, healing, and meaning to life.
All of our therapists are trained and equipped to help you through issues related to anxiety, depression, and stress using a variety of techniques and tools designed specifically for you.
This is a therapeutic technique that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences (trauma).
We are happy to offer testing and therapeutic services using a variety of holistic approaches. These approaches can be used as either supplemental services to traditional therapy or sometimes in place of them.
Both Play Therapy and Art Therapy can be used to help clients interpret, express, and resolve their emotions and thoughts. Although Play Therapy is often used for children, Art Therapy can be used with a wide age range.
